I hate the way your blue eyes watch me
with such grace and delicacy.
I hate that I can never be angry at you,
because I know you're the only one left.
I hate it when you belittle yourself,
and insult yourself too.
I hate the fact you care for me so much,
because I'm undeserving of your sympathy.
I hate it when you make me cry,
because you told me I'll be missed if I died.
And I hate it when you tell me I'm special,
because I'm no magnum opus, unless you think
that a glass of water is magnificent.
But what I hate the most is that I love you,
and I know deep inside
that I'll never be able
to call you mine.
